Intermediate Band

Guidelines
1.  Students in Intermediate Band  attend three rehearsals per week during the homeroom time.  These rehearsals usually start the first week of school and continue throughout the school year.

2.  Intermediate Band students receive one lesson per week in a small group.  These lessons are held in the RMS Band Room during the school day.  The lessons will begin after beginner registration and continue until the second to last week of school.

3.  Students in Intermediate Band are required to practice at home a minimum of 15-20 minutes per day.  Students will receive a new practice card at the beginning of each quarter.  Practice cards should be turned in on Wednesdays.

4.  The Intermediate Band performs a minimum of two concerts per year.  One is held in December and another in May. Intermediate Band members are also invited to participate in the Memorial Day parade.

5.  Students in Intermediate Band are eligible to participate in the Illinois Grade School Music Association district solo and ensemble contest.  The IGSMA contest is held in March at different schools in the district.  Students wishing to participate at contest must sign up with the band director in December.

6.  In most cases, students at this level have already secured an instrument through the music store or school district.

7.  Evaluations of student progress are sent home with the student's regular classroom report cards.

8.  Written notification needs to be sent by a parent or guardian to the director if a student will be dropping out of band.
