Welcome to Band!

    We would liketo take this opportunity to welcome you to what we hope will be a wonderfuland lifefong endeavor.  The study and performance of music is somethingthat will stay with you for your entire life.  It will enhance youracademic skills, enrich your emotional life, and broaden your social life.

    There are three concert bands at Reagan Middle School.  The Beginning Band is open to fifth and sixth graders with no playing experience.  The Intermediate Band is open to students who have had at least sixth months of previous instruction.  Patriot Band is for seventh and eighth graders who have had previous instruction on their instrument.  Jazz Band and Pep Band are extra curricular organizations for seventh and eighth graders.
     
Meet the Staff...

    Mrs.Ruth Johnson is the Band Director at Reagan Middle School. She began teaching in Dixon in the fall of 1986.  She directs allof the bands at RMS in addition to teaching most of the small group lessons.

    Mrs. Johnson started playing piano at the age of eight, flute at the age of nine, and French horn at 14. She received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Illinois StateUniversity.  While there she learned to play all of the other instrumentsin the band and orchestra.  Mrs. Johnson also holds a Bachelor of Science in Education (Elementary Education) degree from Illinois StateUniversity and a Masters of Science in Education (Curriculum & Supervision)degree from Northern Illinois University.
 
 

    Mr. Steve Boll is the Band Director at Dixon High School.  He will be working with students during morning lessons each day.
